Arts Event

This day we met at the Southbank British Film Institute (BFI).

At the Institute we worked on our blogs for a short time while we waited for people to arrive. Once everyone was there we got ready to watch a film – La Heine – which means The Hate.  While we watched the film we had to make notes about our opinion of the film, what we liked, what we though we should use in our film and we also compared it to our film.  We also had to choose an Arts Hero – someone we admire for their work and talk about that person, why we like about them, why picked that person and what we admire them.

This picture shows the titles we had to make notes on and discuss .

In here we are watching the La Heine and making notes. when the film was over we were split into groups, I was teamed up with Chloe. We had to discuss the characters, themes and sounds of the films and the other three had to discuss the rest of the titles .

In here I am researching and trying to decide who to choose for my  Arts Hero. It was difficult to choose someone who I admire as there are so many people to chose from but at the end of the day I managed to decide who to talk about Johnny Depp.

Session 3

In this picture we are at the park getting ready to start recording our first scene. We had to set up the camera with the bluetooth microphone. The scene is called ‘two weeks ago’. The characters acting in this scene are Jordan (Anthony) andMimi (…….)This was the day I realised that making a film is not as easy. We had to take the same scene different times to be able to get different shot and we also had to keep track of time.

In here we are also at the park. We are watching Chloe and Jordan act. In the scene Anthony is hurt and ……. is nursing his wound. By this time of the day everyone was tired after filming the entire day but we still had to work together to be able to finish the scene. At the end of the day we managed to finish the scene.

Session 2

In this picture we are at the Community Resource Centre. On this day we made up the script for the short film. Everyone put together their opinions and ideas to make a perfect script. This felt like a very long and hard day as we had to sit infront of the projector for a couple of hours until the script was finished. By the end of the day, everybody was happy with the script that we, together as a group, made.

In here, Rebekah, Janiece and myself had to come together to decide what person fits the best into each role. After talking for a short while, we decided who would take up each character.

Session 1

This picture shows the first time we went out and filmed a short scene.  In this shot, Janiece was directing and explaining what she wanted to see in the scene. As you can see in the picture, Jordan was filming without the tripod so that it could be a handheld shot.  However, as it was my first experience, I was trying to become familiar with the tripod.

In here, the roles have changed. Jordan is now filming, Janiece is monitoring the sound and for the first time I am filming. It was a challenge for me as I’ve never filmed before and the shot was handheld so I had to keep the camera as straight and stable as possible, as I didn’t have the tripod. In this short scene, Renardo is following Chloe in a mysterious way which makes Chloe feel intimidated and scared.

In this picture, we are at the Community Resource Centre after filming. We are gathered around the projector to watch what we had filmed. We gave our opinions and our comments to share what we thought of the short scene and how we can improve when we make our film.

Sheena came to the Community Resource Centre to talk to us about the Arts Award. In this picture, she is showing us how to start our blog’s at it was part of the project. This was the first time I had to create and write in a blog.
